Secrecy adds to the charm of this underground den. From the street, you enter the front door of the big, bright, decidedly not exotic Grand Cafe. Skirt the karaoke floor show, and follow the arrow that points down a back staircase. Then, if you venture up a dark, narrow hallway, you'll suddenly find yourself smack-dab in the middle of a full-tilt cha cha dance party, swinging to Latin rhythms from sunny Cuban sambas to Mexican hiphop. Arrive early for free salsa dancing lessons, and stay as DJs spin a mix that's bound to have something to get you up on your feet. No wallflowers allowed. The men here aren't the least bit shy about asking the ladies for a dance. The shady, low-ceilinged room, mercifully air conditioned, sports a tropical motif. A tiny bar at the back dispenses cocktails and Mexican beer on draft.
